Lani Bortfeld is on the MCC's Creative Teaching Partners roster for both residency and after-school programs. She has been giving educational family and children's concerts throughout New England for 25 years, and knows how to engage today's young people in enjoying music they may never have heard before. Fluent in English and Spanish, Ms. Bortfeld taught for 13 years in an urban elementary school with a high poverty rate. She has considerable experience in designing innovative and multicultural musical presentations, and performs solo and with the Arcos/iris string quartet, which is on the MCC events roster. Arcos/iris enjoys introducing audiences of all ages to the violin, viola, cello and double bass. With its varied repertoire of American folk, blues, Celtic, classical, contemporary, international folk and ethnic, jazz, Latin American and ragtime music, the quartet can present master classes and concerts for or including students, as well as full-length family concerts.
