Description
Portland, Maine's first Poet Laureate (2007-09) presents poems and stories in an engaging way, sometimes in two voices with a second presenter, sometimes with music and sign language. "Our audience was enchanted by his poetry and his presentation," said Susan Gassett, Coordinator for arts programming at Spaulding Memorial Library, Sebago, ME. "Some there had never gone to hear poetry before, and he made converts—they were delighted." "A musician and acrobat, his book Brothers of Morning is ablaze with imagination," said poet Laure-Anne Bosselaar. Awarded Maine Alliance for Art Education's Bill Bonyun Award 2006 "for exemplified talent as an artist and being an inspiration to students, teachers and the community." First Place for a poem in Maine Writers Literary Awards 2008. "His work is beauty, it moves you," says a 10-year-old student. "He brings you over the bridge to poetry."
