Residency and Outreach Activities

The Syrotiaks have taught marionette construction and manipulation classes to MFA theater students at Northeastern University, University of Texas at El Paso, Boston University and the University of Connecticut. They have also lead several private courses at their studio in Brattleboro, VT. Artistic Director David A. Syrotiak has been a guest director on two occasions at Teatr Lalek Arlekin in Lodz, Poland. Their "Beauty and the Beast", directed by Mr. Syrotiak, earned an UNIMA citation.

Awards

National Marionette Theatre has been awarded two Citations of Excellence by UNIMA (Union Internationale de la Marionette), the highest award in puppetry worldwide. They were the first American marionette company to receive this honor.

Education/Training

All members of the company have apprenticed/trained with many of the most popular puppet companies in America. Some of these include: Bil Baird Marionettes, Suzari Marionettes, Sid and Marty Kroft, The Center for Puppetry Arts & Vagabond Marionettes.

Technical Requirements

National Marionette Theatre brings everything required to perform the show. To assemble our staging, lighting and sound systems we require a clear space 22'w x 10'd x 10'h and two 20 amp outlets on separate circuit breakers. Setup takes 90 minutes.
